This is a simple appetizer that is great for breakfast or brunch we make them every year for Christmas morning brunch.

1 (32 ounce) package tater tots
2 pounds sliced bacon, cut in half
6 slices American cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Arrange the tater tots in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes, so that they are no longer frozen but not completely cooked. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  • Place bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat. Fry bacon until cooked through but still flexible. Drain on paper towels.
  • Break each slice of cheese into small pieces. Each slice should make about 16 pieces. Place a piece of cheese against the side of a tater tot. Wrap with a piece of the bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place on a baking sheet. Repeat until you run out of tots.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until the bacon is crisp.

1/2 bag Tater Tots (thawed to room temperature)
1 8- ounce package Sharp Cheddar Cheese (cut in 1/4-inch squares)
Hot Sauce
1 16- ounce package Bacon (strips cut in half)
1/2 cup Brown Sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat over to 400F
  • Cube the sharp cheddar cheese in to very small pieces.
  • Cut bacon strips in half.
  • Cut out a small center portion of a Tater Tot, place cheese cube in the center of the Tater Tot.
  • Wrap the Tater Tot and cheese cube in one of the bacon strips that have been cut in half.
  • Roll in brown sugar and place in pan seam side down.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, turn each bacon wrapped Tator Tot over to brown the bottom. Bake another 10 to 15 minutes until the bacon is crispy. Cool and serve with your favorite sauce.

  • Preheat oven to 400°. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until partially cooked but not crisp. Remove to paper towels to drain; keep warm., Combine syrup and pepper flakes. Dip each bacon piece in syrup mixture, then wrap around a Tater Tot. Secure with toothpicks., Place on a greased rack in a foil-lined 15x10x1-in. baking pan. 24 frozen tater tots (room temperature)
6 slices bacon
¼ cup dark brown sugar (packed)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and the cayenne pepper.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar/cayenne pepper mix on top of the bacon and rub the mixture into the bacon.
  • Cut each slice of bacon into 4 equal pieces.
  • Wrap the bacon around the tot and secure with a toothpick.
  • Place the tot seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Repeat the process with all tater tots.
  • Bake the tots at 400°F for 20-25 minutes and flip halfway through cooking.
  • Cool, to touch, and serve.
  • Note - If making the tots the day ahead, allow them to cool, after cooking, to room temperature and refrigerate in an airtight container overnight. When ready to serve, reheat the tots in a preheated 350°F oven for 10 minutes or until hot.

12 slices center-cut bacon, cut in half crosswise
24 frozen bite-sized potato nuggets (such as Tater Tots®), partially defrosted
4 slices sharp Cheddar cheese, each cut into 6 small pieces
24 dashes hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®), or to taste
24 toothpicks

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Lay each slice of bacon onto a work surface and place a potato nugget in the center of each bacon slice. Cut a slit down the center of each potato nugget and place a Cheddar cheese piece into the slit. Top each nugget with a dash of hot sauce. Wrap bacon around each filled potato nugget and secure the bacon to the nugget with a toothpick. Transfer the wrapped nuggets to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until nuggets are cooked through and bacon is crispy, 15 to 20 minutes.

20 slices lean bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Cut bacon strips in half making pieces about 4 inches each. Place a tater tot on the end half-strip of bacon and roll the bacon around the tater tot, slightly overlapping by 1/2 inch. Cut off any excess bacon and secure the end with a toothpick. Place the bacon-wrapped tots on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is brown and crispy. Serve hot. cook's notes Soak toothpicks in a bowl of water before sticking into the tots and hot oven to prevent them from burning.
