PENNE WITH VODKA SAUCE AND BACON
In this recipe, tomato sauce is spiked a few shots of vodka and served with crispy bacon.

Steps:
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes.
- Place bacon in a large saucepan and cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, until crisp, about 5 minutes. Drain bacon on paper towels.
- Return saucepan to medium-low heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion is translucent, about 3 minutes. Increase heat to high; add vodka and bring to a boil. Cook until reduced by 1/2, about 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and red pepper flakes. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook sauce until thickened, about 10 minutes.
- Drain pasta; top with the sauce and sprinkle with the bacon, basil, and black pepper.

- Divide vodka evenly among mason jars; reserve vodka bottle.
- In 10-inch skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and reserve for another use. Reserve 2 tablespoons bacon drippings; discard any remaining drippings.
- Add 2 teaspoons drippings to vodka in each jar. Cover jars tightly with lid; shake well. Let stand at room temperature 6 hours.
- Place jars in freezer for 30 minutes. Line mesh strainer with cheesecloth; set strainer in large bowl. Strain vodka in strainer (any bacon drippings should remain in cheesecloth). Use funnel to pour strained vodka back into original bottle. Store in cool, dark location for up to 6 months.
