I wanted to use up some full-size chocolate bars leftover from Halloween and decided to make hot chocolate out of one. The result was fabulous!

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (1.55 ounce) bar milk chocolate candy bar, chopped
⅔ cup milk, or more to taste
1 pinch ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Place chocolate pieces in a saucepan over medium-low heat; add milk and whisk constantly until chocolate is melted and well blended, about 5 minutes. Whisk in cinnamon. Remove from heat; add more milk if desired. Serve in a mug.

1-quart whole milk
4 ounces Valrhona Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 ounces sugar
6 ounces Valrhona bittersweet chocolate chunks
1 tablespoons homemade vanilla
Homemade marshmallows or whipped cream, for topping

Steps:

  • Pour milk and cocoa into a sauce pot and bring to a simmer and add sugar. Reduce heat to very low and add chocolate stirring occasionally until melted about 3 to 5 minutes. Strain hot chocolate through a chinois and finish with vanilla. Hot chocolate can be topped off with homemade marshmallows or whipped cream.

  • When the milk reaches the scalding point (180 degrees F, with bubbles on the side), turn off the heat and add the melted chocolate, whisking to combine. Add the vanilla extract now, if desired. Top with whipped cream or marshmallows if using, and enjoy!
