1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup cocoa
2 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Melt butter in microwave.
  • Add the cocoa and stir.
  • In medium bowl beat eggs until frothy.
  • Add sugar, flour, and salt (also nuts if you are using them).
  • Pour cocoa mixture over egg mixture and stir all together.
  • Put into a greased 8 x 8 pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
  • For a doubled recipe use a 9 x 13 pan.
  • Icing, recipe below.
  • Icing for Best Ever Brownies:
  • 1 1/3 cup icing sugar.
  • 1/3 cup cocoa.
  • 3 tbsp butter or margarine.
  • 1 tbsp & 2 tsp hot water
  • Beat all ingredients together, add more liquid if necessary.
  • Spread over brownies.

I've had this recipe for years and years (wrangled it from my son's Godmother!) and it's a consistent, never-fail, chewy/fudgy piece of chocolate Heaven! It goes together very quickly, too!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup semisweet chocolate morsel
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate morsel (additional)

Steps:

  • Combine butter, sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat on medium and stir until sugar is melted. Remove from heat.
  • Add vanilla, eggs and 1 cup of chocolate morsels (I use Ghirardelli's) and stir until chocolate is melted.
  • In a medium sized bowl, combine baking soda, salt and flour, mix well. Add warm chocolate mixture and stir gently until combined.
  • Spray bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan with spray release of choice, then pour in the brownie batter. Wait a minute or two for the batter to even out over the pan, then sprinkle with the additional cup of chocolate morsels.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 eggs
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter
One 16-ounce box brown sugar
2 cups self-rising flour
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 cups chopped walnuts or pecans
1 cup or 3 1/2-ounce can shredded coconut (optional)
One 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat eggs and butter together; add sugar. Gradually add flour; mix well. Stir in vanilla. Fold in nuts, coconut, and chocolate chips. Bake in greased and floured 13 × 9-inch sheet pan for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.

I love how easy this recipe is. The aroma while it was baking took me back to when my Granny used to bake. The end result is a very tasty cake that is supremely moist and very flavorful. I would serve this any time of any day and it has now become a family favorite!

1 c butter, melted
2 c sugar
2 eggs
2-3 c apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1 c chopped pecans
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease a 9" X 13" baking dish (I now use non-stick cooking spray.)
  • 2. In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir in apples and nuts.
  • 3. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, and fold into apple mixture.
  • 4. Pour batter into prepared baking dish, and bake for 50 minutes.
  • 5. Cool, in baking dish on wire rack. Cut into squares and serve with a dollop of whipped topping or a scoop of ice cream, if you like.
