⅓ cup sliced fresh mushrooms
⅓ cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 pinch garlic powder

Steps:

  • Tear the spinach into bite-size pieces and toss in a large bowl with the bean sprouts, clementines, and mushrooms.
  • Whisk together the oil, soy sauce, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Pour over the spinach mixture, toss, and let stand for about 5 minutes to let the flavors blend.

2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, crushed
1 cup blanched slivered almonds
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
½ cup butter, melted
1 head napa cabbage, shredded
1 bunch green onions, chopped
¾ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup distilled white vinegar
½ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Steps:

  • In a medium skillet over low heat brown ramen noodles, almonds, and sesame seeds with melted butter or margarine. Once browned, take off heat and cool.
  • In a small saucepan bring vegetable oil, sugar, and vinegar to boil for 1 minute. Cool. Add soy sauce.
  • In a large bowl, combine shredded napa cabbage and chopped green onions. Add the noodle and soy sauce mixture. Toss to coat. Serve.

1 medium red pepper (finely diced)
2 stalks celery (finely diced)
¼ medium red onion (finely diced)
¼ cup cilantro (chopped)
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
¼ cup roasted peanuts (can sub almonds or cashews)
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons soy sauce (gluten-free if needed)
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 small garlic clove (grated (preferably with a Microplane))
A pinch of sea salt

Steps:

  • Combine all the sesame dressing ingredients in a small jar and shake it well.

1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Place washed and dried spinach in a large bowl.
  • Combine sesame oil, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, mustard and sesame seeds.
  • Pour over spinach.

  • Let set 5 minutes.
  • Toss again.

1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon reduced-sodium soy sauce

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Dash ground ginger
1 boneless skinless chicken breast (6 ounces), cut into 1-inch cubes
1-1/2 cups fresh baby spinach
2 tablespoons shredded carrot
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1-3/4 cups chow mein noodles
1 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine 4 teaspoons sesame oil, vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, salt, cayenne and ginger; shake well. Cover and refrigerate until serving., In a small skillet, saute chicken in remaining oil until golden brown; set aside and keep warm. In a small bowl, combine the spinach, carrot and onions. Shake dressing and pour over salad; toss to coat., Divide chow mein noodles between two plates; top with salad mixture and chicken. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

3 Tbsp roasted walnuts
¼ red onion
1 navel orange
3 oz baby spinach
3 Tbsp neutral-flavored oil (vegetable, rice bran, canola, etc.)
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1½ Tbsp rice vinegar (unseasoned)
¼ tsp grated ginger
¼ tsp sugar
½ Tbsp toasted white sesame seeds
⅛ tsp freshly ground black pepper
¼ tsp kosher salt (Diamond Crystal; use half for table salt)

Steps:

  • To make the dressing, in a small bowl, whisk together 3 Tbsp vegetable oil, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 ½ Tbsp rice vinegar, ¼ tsp grated ginger, ¼ tsp sugar, and ½ Tbsp sesame seeds and set aside.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium high heat and toast the walnuts, stirring frequently until fragrant. Transfer the walnuts to a plate and set aside.
  • Slice the red onion thinly. Cut the navel orange into 8 wedges. Slice off the peel and pith. Cut each wedge into 2-3 pieces.
  • Add the spinach, the navel orange, and walnuts in a large bowl. Pour as much dressing as you like and toss gently to coat thoroughly. Serve immediately.

1 cup peeled, seeded cucumber, in half-inch chunks

1/2 cup frozen shelled soybeans (edamame), thawed
1/2 cup seasoned rice vinegar
1 clove fresh garlic, minced or pressed
1 tablespoon minced candied ginger
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

Steps:

  • Combine all of the dressing ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Or, for a more textured dressing, whisk the ingredients together in a small bowl. In a large bowl, combine the spinach, chicken, cucumber, grapes and soybeans. Toss with the dressing and add salt and pepper if desired. Serve immediately.

Steps:

  • Whisk 6 tablespoons oil, sugar, vinegar and soy sauce in small bowl to blend. Season dressing with salt and pepper.
  • Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in heavy medium skillet over medium heat. Add noodles from soup mix (reserve seasoning packet for another use), nuts and sesame seeds. Stir until noodles, nuts and seeds are toasted and golden, about 8 minutes. Pour contents of skillet into large bowl and cool 10 minutes. Add spinach and green onions to same bowl.
