ASIAN PORK BURGER
I am a big fan of American classics like burgers and pizza, but sometimes you need to push things a little bit and try to come up with something that is a bit different. My wife and I both love Asian food and we love burgers, so one day I got inspired to whip up this recipe. They turned out amazing the first time; you just have to try these. They are so flavorful you can eat them without a bun. I would recommend putting some extra teriyaki sauce on them.

- Mix the ground pork, apple, onion, bell pepper, teriyaki sauce, apple cider, ground ginger, bread crumbs, black pepper, and soy sauce together in a mixing bowl until evenly combined; shape into 8 patties. Chill the patties in the freezer for 30 minutes so they are not soft when placed on the grill.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
- Cook the burgers on the preheated grill until firm, hot, and no longer pink in the center, about 5 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

ASIAN STYLE PORK BURGERS
Super-flavorful and easy-to-make, these pork burgers are flavored with fresh ginger, garlic, and sesame oil, with a touch of spicy in the mix! So delicious! Top with some creamy, spicy slaw and bread-and-butter pickles, and you're in for a treat! Inspired by and adapted from an Epicurious recipe, to which I added fresh ginger and Hoisin, both of which amp up the flavor.

Steps:
- Mix all the ingredients together. I like to do this in a glass measuring cup, because it's easy to measure the mayo, then just spoon all the other ingredients in and stir. It's then easy to scoop out what you'll need for the slaw, leaving enough for your sandwiches.
- Set aside.
- If you're not using pre-packaged "slaw mix": Use a mandolin, sharp knife, or food processor to thin-slice the cabbage. Place it in a bowl, and add grated carrot, and sliced green onion.
- Using the dressing you made, top the cabbage mixture with all but 1/4 cup (60ml) of the dressing, which you need to reserve as a sandwich spread. Stir it in with the veggies, then sprinkle the 1/2 tsp salt and stir again. Refrigerate for up to 8 hours.
- In a large bowl, place the ground pork. Add the minced garlic, minced fresh ginger, Sriracha sauce, Sesame oil, hoisin sauce, Fish sauce, cilantro leaves and salt. Using your hands (or a wooden spoon if you prefer), gently combine all the ingredients together.
- Form 4 roughly equal sized patties. I like to do this by forming 4 "balls" of meat, then pressing down on each portion. You want to make sure the burgers are kind of firmly together, so they don't fall apart while cooking.
- Heat a heavy skillet (Cast-iron prefered) over Medium to Medium-High heat until hot, and drizzle about 1 tsp vegetable or olive oil. Set the heat at Medium, and cook the patties 6-8 minutes until done. Internal temp should be 160F.
- Slather buns with remaining sauce. Add the pork patties and top with slaw and sweet pickles if you like.

- Burger ... This is really best made at least 4 hours or more, ahead of time. The flavors really need to develop or 'mary.' Add all the ingredients except the pork to a bowl; and mix to combine. Then, add the pork; and, mix by hand ... trying not to over mix. Now, I like cilantro; so, I use all 3 tablespoons; but, use less if you are not a fan. Make 4 patties; and, place on a plate or small tray lined with foil or parchment paper. Make sure to cover well with saran wrap - refrigerate at least 4 hours, up to over night. I usually make mine the morning before the night I plan to grill.
- Sauce ... Same thing. Make ahead. Simply mix the mayonnaise, sriracha, lime juice and zest; taste, season lightly with salt and pepper - then, cover and refrigerate. Don't use Miracle Whip in this dressing.
- Toppings ... I prefer the cucumbers and radishes thin sliced; and, the carrots and onions shredded. Now, in my main picture, I used a pre-shredded carrot; just because I had it on hand. But, shredding the carrots and onion really work best when you can.
- Simply add the cucumbers and radish slices to a small bowl with half of the vinegar; and, toss to combine. Add the carrots and onions to another bowl along with the remaining vinegar to another bowl, and toss. Lightly season both with salt and pepper. These can be done right when you start to grill the burgers. Note: When adding the vegetables to your burgers, make sure to use a slotted spoon. You want the flavor of the vinegar; but, not all the liquid.

- Combine all ingredients (except the soy sauce and oil for frying) together in a large bowl. Mix this well. I use my hands to mush everything together and make a nice soft mixture. You may not want to use your hands and that’s OK. Form into 4 patties if you want burgers, 8 for sliders.
- Heat oil over medium high. When oil is hot, add your patties. This will splatter so if you have a splatter screen you may want to use it. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side. After you have flipped your burgers, sprinkle with a bit more soy sauce. This not only gives the burgers great color, it also adds more flavor.
- Serve in buns, slider buns or these perfect steamed buns. Top with some cilantro, shredded cabbage, sliced cucumbers, and chopped green onions. If you want a sauce, I love sweet chili sauce on these, or mix some hoisin into mayonnaise and dollop that on.

- To make the burgers: Preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat or heat a grill to medium-high. Combine the ground turkey or chicken; ground pork; green onions; ginger; coconut aminos, tamari, or soy sauce; black pepper; garlic powder; and salt in a large mixing bowl. Form into four large hamburger patties, then poke an indentation with your finger into the middle of each one (this keeps them from shrinking).
