AQUAVIT CARAWAY SPRITZER
Steps:
- Add the caraway seeds to a dry saucepan and toast until lightly fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the sugar and 1/2 cup water and bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Turn off the heat and let steep until cool. Strain and discard any solids.
- Fill a cocktail shaker and 2 rocks glasses with ice. Add the aquavit, orange juice, lemon juice and 2 tablespoons caraway syrup to the shaker and shake vigorously (save the remaining syrup for another use). Pour the drink into the glasses and top with club soda. Garnish with the orange half-rounds.
CRANBERRY SEA BREEZE PUNCH
Get the party started with this refreshing punch. Making fruit ice cubes stops the cranberries from sinking to the bottom of the glass - clever!

- Using two ice cube trays, put one or two cranberries in each square, fill with water and freeze until solid. Can be done a week ahead.
- Pour the cranberry juice, vodka and grapefruit juice into a punch bowl or large pouring jug and add the lime slices. Add some ice and half the cranberry ice cubes. Divide the remaining cranberry ice cubes between the glasses, then pour in the punch.

One of the highlights of our travels to Scandinavia was discovering aquavit, a tasty spirit with a hint of caraway or dill. I was happy to find this cocktail recipe to extend the ways we enjoy this Northern spirit!

Steps:
- Fill a rocks glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, using a wooden spoon, muddle the cranberries with the sugar, water and 1 of the lime wedges. Add the aquavit and a handful of ice and shake well. Strain into the glass, garnish with the remaining lime wedge and serve.
