April Fools Day Berry Sodas Recipes

LIME BERRY SODA

Steps:

• For the simple syrup: Add the berries, sugar and 1/2 cup water to a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the berries have released their juices and the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the liquid into a jar. Cool to room temperature before using.
• For the lime berry soda: Fill a 12-ounce glass with ice. Top with 1 ounce berry syrup and the sparkling water (save the remaining berry syrup for another use). Stir to combine. Garnish with the lime wedge and mint sprig.

BERRY PIE (FOR APRIL FOOLS' DAY )

Steps:

• Place bottom crust in pie pan.
• Fill tightly with cotton balls.
• Cut a few slashes in top crust & place over cotton.
• Crimp edges as you would for pie.
• Drizzle a small amount of jelly on top crust where filling "would run over".
• Bake in 350 oven on bottom rack, watching very carefully till pie looks done. (I am not sure this would work in an electric oven).

APRIL FOOLS' DAY BERRY SODAS

Steps:

• Prepare jello by following the directions on the package.
• Chill in the refrigerator until partially set, about 2 hours.
• Add the berries to the jello; stir.
• Pour mixture into 6 tall clear drink or soda glasses.
• Insert one straw into each glass.
• Chill in the refrigerator until set.
