APPLE-WALNUT MAPLE CONSERVE
Versatile and delicious, this conserve reminds me of a warm cozy kitchen; you'll love every bite. I warm the conserve and pour it over vanilla ice cream as a dessert, and it's great as a topping over French toast, biscuits or even pork roast. Be sure to make more than one batch so you can give it as gifts during the holidays.-Paula Marchesi, Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania

APPLE MARMALADE
An old timey recipe from the Western chapter of the US Regional Cookbook, Chicago Culinary Arts Institute, 1947. This is a good recipe to salvage those apples that have gone a little mealy. While this recipe is written in an old-fashioned way, it is perfectly safe if processed using modern methods. If you are unfamiliar with these modern techniques, please go to http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/how/can_home.html for the current information.

WALNUT APPLE DESSERT
The neighbor who shared this recipe with me predicted that I'd serve it often, just as she has for more than 30 years. It's easy to put together and is wonderfully fruity. I like to serve it with ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. -Diann Mallehan, Grand Rapids, Michigan
