Tender apples kissed with maple syrup and covered in a rich, crunchy topping. Very easy, and tastes great!! My fiance loves when I make this dessert.

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Place apples in an 8x8 inch baking dish. Toss apples with syrup. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, until topping is golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.

- 1. Heat oven to 375^. Combine apple slices and apple pie spice. Arrange apple slices in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle walnuts over apples then drizzle the caramel over nuts. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon , nutmeg and cookie mix- or Bisquick, in a bowl. Add butter and blend as for pie crust until crumbly. Set aside. Pour rum over caramel.. Sprinkle cookie mixture over all evenly. Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are tender.

- Toss apples with lemon juice and water in a shallow 2 quart baking dish.

- Set oven to 375 degrees.
- Butter a 10-inch deep-dish glass pie plate (or use an 11 x 7-inch baking dish).
- For the topping; in a bowl stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and pinch salt; add in butter and blend with fingers until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Add in the toasted walnuts; set aside while preparing the filling.
- In a large bowl toss the apple slices with the lemon juice; add in all remaining ingredients except the vanilla ice cream, toss well to combine and transfer to the prepared pie plate or baking dish.
- Sprinkle the prepared topping evenly over the apple mixture.

- Make the dough: Into a bowl sift together the flour, salt, and sugar and blend in the butter until the mixture resembles a course meal.
- Add the egg yolk and 1 TBS of the water, toss the mixture until the water is incorporated, adding enough of the remaining water as necessary.

- Dust the dough with flour and chill covered for 2 hours

- Make the Sauce: Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and stir over medium heat until ice cream is melted and ingredients are combined.
- Serve crisp with warm sauce.
