Apple and BBQ Sauce Baby Back Ribs image

This is a recipe that I did a couple of years ago. It takes some time, but it's worth it.

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups barbeque sauce
4 cups applesauce
4 pounds baby back pork ribs
salt and black pepper to taste
cayenne pepper to taste
garlic powder to taste

Steps:

  • Mix the barbeque sauce and applesauce in bowl. Place ribs on a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil, and rub on all sides with the salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Pour sauce over ribs to coat. Seal ribs in the foil. Marinate in the refrigerator 8 hours, or overnight.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Place ribs in foil on the grill grate, and cook 1 hour. Remove ribs from foil, and place directly on the grill grate. Continue cooking 30 minutes, basting frequently with the sauce, until ribs are done.

3 lbs pork baby back rib racks (cut each rack in half)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Place ribs in a large pot and fill pot with enough water to cover ribs.
  • Bring water to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour, or until ribs are fork tender.
  • While ribs are boiling, combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, stirring often, for 30 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  • Place boiled ribs, meat side down, on a broiler pan.
  • Brush with half the sauce mixture and broil 4" to 5" from heat for 6-7 minutes.
  • Turn ribs over, brush with remaining sauce, and broil additional 6-7 minutes, or until edges are slightly charred.

1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup apple cider
1 tablespoon raspberry preserves
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
salt & freshly ground black pepper
2 racks pork baby back ribs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Stir together maple syrup, apple cider, raspberry preserves and crush red pepper flakes to form glaze.
  • Season pork ribs with salt and pepper.
  • Place ribs on a rack, bone side down, and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Brush ribs, on both sides with glaze; bake 15 minutes.
  • Brush ribs, on both sides again, with glaze; bake an additional 15 minutes.
  • Remove ribs to a platter, brush with any remaining glaze, and let rest 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
