Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9 by 14 by 2-inch oval baking dish.
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into large wedges. Combine the apples with the zests, juices, sugar, and spices. Pour into the dish.
- To make the topping, combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and cold butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on low speed until the mixture is crumbly and the butter is the size of peas. Scatter evenly over the apples.
- Place the crisp on a sheet pan and bake for 1 hour until the top is brown and the apples are bubbly. Serve warm.
GRANDMA'S OLD-FASHIONED APPLE CRISP
Simple, old-fashioned apple crisp. If you want something simple and homemade on hand, you can double the filling recipe (I use a 5-pound bag of Granny Smith apples) and freeze half of it.

APPLE CRISP
Try this moreish apple crisp. 'Crisp' is the American version of a crumble, with the topping a mix between a nutty flapjack and a traditional British crumble.

APPLE CRISP - PERFECT AND EASY
I adapted this from a 50-year-old peach crisp recipe. Although it works well with peaches, it works even better with fresh, crisp cooking apples.

- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9-inch x 13-inch dish or two smaller baking dishes if needed. Set aside.
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into uniform slices, about 1/4 inch thickness. Cutting the slices thin and evenly ensure juicy, fast cooking crisp with soft apples. If you cut the apples too thick, the cooking will be longer and it will dry the crisp topping.
- In a large mixing bowl combine all the topping ingredients: rolled oats, chopped walnuts, almond flour, shredded coconut, maple syrup, avocado oil, and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly onto the apples until no more left. Don't spread or pack the topping using a spatula or it will be more like a cobbler recipe and the topping won't create crunchy cookie crumble pieces.

- Place the sliced apples in a 9” square baking dish. In a liquid measuring cup, whisk together the honey and water until combined. Add the lemon juice, starch, cinnamon and allspice, and whisk to combine. Pour the mixture over the apples and toss to combine. Bake for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl, stir together the oats, almond meal, pecans, coconut sugar and salt. Mix in the melted butter and the yogurt. Stir until all of the flour is incorporated and the mixture is moistened throughout.
- Once the apples have baked for 20 minutes, give them a stir and redistribute them evenly in the baker. Dollop small spoonfuls of the oat mixture evenly over the filling (see photos, no need to pack it down). Return the baker to the oven and bake for 25 to 30 more minutes, until the filling is bubbling around the edges and the top is nice and golden.
