GRILLED APPLE AND CHEDDAR SANDWICH



Grilled Apple and Cheddar Sandwich image

This apple cheddar panini sandwich is a twist on the classic grilled cheese, and makes the perfect lunch for a Fall day.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/4 apple, sliced thin (I used Cortland or Granny Smith)
1/4 cup-1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese
2 slices whole wheat bread
cinnamon, to taste

Steps:

  • Cut apple into thin slices.
  • Top both slices of bread with cheese, and top one slices with apple slices.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon, and top with other slice of bread.
  • Grill in panini press, or in a skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat until golden brown on each side 2-3 minutes.
  • If cooking in skillet, use a heavy pan like cast iron or weigh down another skillet with large cans to press sandwich.

8 slices whole grain bread
1/4 cup honey mustard
2 crisp apples, thinly sliced (I like Braeburn or Fuji or Gala)
8 ounces mild cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat panini press on medium heat(or use 2 heavy skillets-one to put on top of the panini while cooking to press it).
  • Lightly spread honey mustard evenly over each slice of bread.
  • Layer apple slices and cheese over 4 slices of bread, using about ½ apple and 2 ounces of cheese for each sandwich. Top each with remaining bread slices. Lightly coat panini press with cooking spray(or coat skillet.
  • Grill each sandwich for 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese has melted and bread has toasted.
  • Remove from pan and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

8 slices bacon, cooked
1 granny smih apple, thinly sliced
Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Heat panini press to medium-low heat.
  • Spread Dijon on 4 slices of bread. Top with slices of Cheddar, 2 pieces of bacon, apple slices and additional Cheddar. Place the remaining bread on top.
  • Place on panini press and cook until cheese is slightly melted and bread is browned and crispy.
