SWEDISH APPLE PIE
I won 1st place in an apple bake-off contest with this recipe. It is the easiest and best apple pie I have ever tasted. It has no crust, believe me, it doesn't need one. I always use Granny Smith apples because they are the best apples for pies. Enjoy!!!!

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 inch pie pan with margarine.
- Fill 2/3 of the pan with sliced apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon and 1 teaspoon sugar.
- In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup sugar with the melted margarine. Stir in pecans, flour, egg and salt. Mix well. Spread mixture over the apples.
- Bake in preheated oven for 65 minutes, or until golden brown.

- 1. Mix flour, sugar, margarine or butter (either melted or cut up), egg, and pinch of salt together.
- 2. Put the 4 or 5 apples in a 9" glass pie pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over them.
- 3. Then pour batter over the apples.
- 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
- 5. Have been asked whether to melt the butter or not, I didn't in this recipe, I spooned on the batter, some have and it still came out good, so I guess you can do it either way!

- Boil apples just until beginning to soften; drain well.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix drained apples, flour, sugar and salt Beat eggs and vanilla together and add to apple mixture.
- Fold in sour cream.
- Pour into pie shell and bake approx.40 minutes or until set.
- While pie is baking, prepare topping as follows:.
- Combine sugar, flour, ground cinnamon and softened butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Remove pie from oven and sprinkle on topping.
- Bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Cool.

My grandmother is a full blooded Swede and she got this recipe from her mother, who came over to America in the late 1800's. She used to make this dessert for my sisters, brother, and I when we were young. We all LOVED it, and I cherish the recipe... - Grease a 9x13" glass baking dish, or 2 pie plates.
- Fill dish/plates with apples 2/3 full- (10-12 apples depending on the size).

- Peel and chop the apples, set them aside.
- Mix the flours, sugar, cardamom (optional) and baking powder together; add the egg whites and blend thoroughly.
- The batter will be stiff.
- Fold in the chopped apples.
