ANGEL FLAKE COOKIES

Angel Flake Cookies image

Another recipe that I collected when I was in high school. I usually make these at Christmas time because they are very easy and different from many cookies. I don't think anyone has ever guessed that they contain dates.

BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE COCONUT MACAROONS

Baker's Angel Flake Coconut Macaroons image

This is from the back of the Angel Flake bag of coconut. Soft, chewy, toothsome, with just a hint of almond flavor. Yummmmm. Let them 'ripen' a few hours before serving to let them soften. The edges can be a bit crispy straight from the oven.

Time 2h

Yield 24 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 sticks unsalted butter, softened, plus more for greasing glass
1 cup canola or vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar, plus more for dipping
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
4 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
Blue sanding sugar, for sprinkling (about 1/2 teaspoon per cookie)
Purple sanding sugar, for sprinkling (about 1/2 teaspoon per cookie)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, oil, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla and eggs. Add the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt and mix well. Cover and refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.
  • Using a cookie scoop, drop balls of dough onto ungreased, unlined baking sheets. Smear a dab of butter all over the bottom of a glass, then dip the glass in granulated sugar. Use the glass to flatten each ball of dough, dipping again into the sugar each time. Then sprinkle blue sanding sugar (about 1/2 teaspoon per cookie) over half of the cookies, and purple sanding sugar over the other half.
  • Bake until the cookies are just barely turning brown, 9 to 11 minutes. Don't overbrown! Allow to cool before eating. The cookies are ultra crumbly!

ANGEL FLAKE BISCUITS

Angel Flake Biscuits image

This is a recipe that has been handed down through generations. At least 6 generations of women in my family has had and made these biscuits. I like this recipe because once you have had these, you won't want another biscuit to go with a roast, Thanksgiving dinner, or stew for that matter. They great with breakfast or as a midday snack.

ANGEL COOKIES

Angel Cookies image

Just cut the recipe out of our local paper, so I haven't tried them yet. Different from the other Angel cookies here as this one has powdered sugar. Looks easy with a short ingredient list. Time includes the 30 min. refrigerator time, also don't know how to put the servings correctly but it says it makes 6 doz. so I put 72 servings.
