Steps:
- Mix together the dry ingredients, then add the milk.
- This should make a fairly thick batter.
- Add the onions and mix thoroughly.
- Drop the batter by spoonsful into hot oil about an inch deep.
- When golden on one side (about 3-4 minutes), turn them and flatten them into patties.
- Fry until golden on the second side (about 3-4 minutes).
- Drain on paper towels.

- Mix All-Purpose Flour (3/4 cup), Cornmeal (1 tablespoon), Baking Powder (2 teaspoon), Salt (1 teaspoon) and Granulated Sugar (1 tablespoon) in a large bowl. Add Milk (3/4 cup) and stir.
- Add chopped Yellow Onion (2 cup) and mix thoroughly. The mixture will be thick and that's what we want.
- Heat 1/2 inch of Frying Oil (as needed) in a skillet over medium-high heat. Using a tablespoon, drop batter in hot oil, flatten ever so slightly. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until brown and crisp. Drain on a paper towel.
- Serve warm and enjoy!

- In a large skillet, cook onions in 1/2 cup butter over low heat for 10 minutes. Stir in the poppy seeds, salt, paprika and pepper; cook until onions are golden brown, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; set aside. , In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and sugars. Cut in 1-1/4 cups butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Melt the remaining butter. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sour cream and melted butter. Make a well in dry ingredients; stir in egg mixture just until moistened. , Spread into a greased 10-in. cast-iron skillet or springform pan. Spoon onion mixture over the batter. Place pan on a baking sheet. Bake at 350° until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 35-40 minutes. Serve warm.
