AMISH APPLE DUMPLINGS
These Amish apple dumplings are prepared by our local Mennonite market for the local fruit farm's annual apple picking open house.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Set apples aside in a cold water bath while you prepare the dough.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Add shortening and cut together with a pastry blender or a fork until crumbly. Add milk and stir until dough comes together.
- Combine 1 cup brown sugar and cinnamon in another bowl. Separate dough into six equal portions and roll out to about 1/4-inch thickness. Place an apple in the center of each dough portion and fill the core with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Wrap each apple in dough and place into the prepared pan.
- Combine remaining brown sugar, water, butter, and nutmeg in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted, about 5 minutes. Pour syrup over dumplings.
- Bake in the preheated oven until dough is golden brown and apples are soft, about 40 minutes.

- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9 by 13-inch pan and set aside.
- Mix together the eggs, oil, flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a large bowl until well blended. Add the apples and the raisins. The batter will be dough-like, and it may be necessary to knead in the apples and raisins to fully incorporate them. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are firm.
- Note: Any variety of apple will work fine, but slightly tart apples will lend more flavor to the cake.

- 1. Pre head oven to 400. Prepare 1 pie crust in a pie plate and set aside.
- 2. Peel, core and slice apples and put them in a large bowl. add, sugar, flour and cinnamon and stir well to coat. Pour mixture into unbaked crust, dot with butter.
- 3. Cover with top crust and seal edges. Cut 4 slits in top for steam to escape. Brush with egg and sprinkle with sugar.
- 4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until pie is golden brown and apples are tender Enjoy :D

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place the peeled and sliced apples in a medium-size bowl.
- Sprinkle the sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon over the apples and mix.
- Spray an 8x8 pan with cooking spray.
- Pour the apple filling into the prepared pan.
- Using the same bowl that you mixed the apples in, combine the oatmeal, brown sugar, flour, soda and baking powder.
