CHOP SUEY
This is the fast and easy chop suey recipe that my mother always made, and we love it 'as is', but you could substitute a can of Chinese mixed vegetables for the bean sprouts if you like more color and texture. Serve over hot rice, topped with chow mein noodles and soy sauce, if desired.

Steps:
- Heat shortening in a large, deep skillet. Sear pork until it turns white, then add onion and saute for 5 minutes. Add celery, hot water, salt and pepper. Cover skillet and simmer for 5 minutes. Add sprouts and heat to boiling.
- In a small bowl combine the cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar. Mix together and add to skillet mixture. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened to taste.

AMERICAN CHOP SUEY II
This is an old family recipe. My family loves it. It's quick and easy. Elbow macaroni and ground beef are combined in a tomatoey sauce. The kids will eat this one!

- Cook macaroni according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, in a separate large skillet over medium high heat, saute the ground beef and the onion for 5 to 10 minutes, or until meat is browned and crumbly. Drain thoroughly and leave the meat and onion in the skillet. Pour the two cans of tomato soup into the skillet and stir well to combine.
- When noodles are done, drain thoroughly and return noodles to the pot. Add the hamburger mixture from the skillet to the pot. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste.

AMERICAN CHOP SUEY
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Cook the pasta in boiling salted water following the package directions.
- Drain in a colander and rinse under hot water. Set aside.
- In a large, deep skillet or saucepan, heat the vegetable oil and butter over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, if using. Cook, stirring until onion is softened and edges are lightly browned.
- Add the ground beef and cook, stirring and breaking up, until the beef is cooked through and no longer pink.
- Add the garlic and garlic powder and cook, stirring for 1 to 2 minutes longer.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, and pepper. Cook, stirring, until the sauce mixture begins to boil. Taste and add salt, as needed. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Add the drained macaroni to the sauce, mix well, and heat through. Serve and enjoy.

VEGETABLE CHOP SUEY
Vegetable chop suey recipe made with crispy fried noodles, yummy sauce & lots of veggies. This chop suey is full of flavors and tastes super delicious.

Steps:
- Boil 5 cups of water. Add salt & stir.
- Next, add the noodles to the boiling water & cook as per package instructions or until al dente.
- Drain the noodles to a colander.
- Rinse it with cold water. Set it aside for a minute.
- Sprinkle cornflour on the noodles & toss it. Make sure the noodles are coated with a thin layer of cornflour. Do not add too much cornflour.
- Fry the noodles in medium hot oil.
- With the help of the ladle try to give it a round shape. Let it fry on one side then gently flip & fry on the other side until golden & crisp (refer the video). Set it aside.
- Same way fry the noodles in batches. I fried the noodles in 2 batches.
- In the same pan, remove excess oil. (Keep only 2 tsp oil).
- Sauté finely chopped garlic for a minute.
- Add spring onion white. Stir fry it for a minute.
- Next, add cabbage, capsicum & carrot to it. Stir fry it for 2-3 minutes.
- Add 1 cup water, tomato sauce, soy sauce, black pepper powder, sugar & salt. Stir it well.
- Let it come to a boil then add cornflour slurry (mix 2 tsp cornflour in 1.5 tsp water). Cook stirring continuously.
- Once the sauce thickens, remove from the heat.
- Stir in vinegar & spring onion greens.
- Serve immediately with crisp fried noodles & enjoy!

- 1. Heat the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for about 1 minute. Then add the ground beef and continue to cook, stirring and breaking up the chunks of meat with a spoon. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 7 minutes. Sprinkle the herbs and pepper over the meat, add salt to taste, and mix in well.
- 2. Add the canned tomatoes with their juices, the tomato sauce, paste, and juice. Add sugar to taste. Simmer while you cook the pasta.
- 3. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the macaroni and cook, stirring occasionally, until al dente. Drain. Mix the macaroni into the chop suey. Serve hot.

- Boil elbow macaroni until just under cooked or al dente and drain.
- Chop onion and green pepper.
- Brown ground beef in a skillet with chopped onion and green pepper. Do not drain all of the grease. It brings out a lot of flavor.
- Combine macaroni, beef mixture, tomato soup, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes in large pot.
- Simmer on very low heat and add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. I add a little bit of garlic powder and italian seasoning for more flavor.
