This Almond Bars recipe is a sweet treat that has a shortbread-like texture and a delicious almond glaze on top! You'll want to make extra and freeze them for later!

Provided by Aimee

Categories     Brownies and Bars

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 Tablespoons milk (any variety)
1 cup sliced almonds
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 Tablespoons milk (any variety)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Generously butter (or use baking spray) on a half sheet pan (approximatedly 18"x13"). Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add in eggs and almond extract. Beat until combined. Slowly add in flour mixture. Mixing until well blended.
  • Press this dough into the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Use your fingers or a pastry roller to smooth the top of the dough.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush the milk to the top of the dough (you may not need to use all of it). Sprinkle with sliced almonds, pressing them lightly into the dough.
  • Bake for 20-22 minutes until done. You don't want to brown these bars.
  • Cool for about 5 minutes, then cut them with a knife into bars. If they are too soft to cut, allow to cool a little bit more. Carefully remove them to a wire rack to continue cooling.
  • Once cooled, you can make your glaze by whisking the sugar with the almond extract and milk. Drizzle over the bars and allow to set.
  • Enjoy!

Time 2h30m

Yield 32

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
1 can (8 oz) or 1 package (7 oz) almond paste, crumbled into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

2 oz white chocolate baking bar, coarsely chopped (1/3 cup)
2 tablespoons shortening
1/4 cup sliced almonds

ALMOND BARS

Almond Bars image

I make these every Christmas for the cookie tray that I always have well stocked for our family's annual Christmas party. This is such a simple recipe with a few common ingredients that most people always have on hand in their kitchen pantry. And it produces such a wonderful bar cookie with a delectible almond taste. It's the perfect treat for any cookie exchange or potluck gathering.

Yield 36 cookies, 36 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, melted (no substitutes)
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1 cup cups sliced almonds (increase or decrease as desired)
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Beat together the eggs and sugar until lemon-colored. Add the butter, flour, and almond extract; mix well.
  • Spread the batter in an even layer on a buttered 13x9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle the top of the batter with sliced amonds if you wish; otherwise leave the top as is.
  • Bake at 325° for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove pan from the oven and dust the top with a light sprinkling of confectioner's sugar, if you wish. Leave cookies in the pan to cool completely.
  • When cooled, cut into bars. (I usually cut 9 vertical rows and 4 horizontal rows, to get 36 bar cookies.).

ALMOND JOY CANDY BAR FILLED CHOCOLATE BUNDT CAKE

Almond Joy Candy Bar Filled Chocolate Bundt Cake image

Full of chocolate, coconut and almond flavor, this Almond Joy Filled Chocolate Bundt cake is a chocolate lover's dream!

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 19

5 ALMOND JOY Candy bars (1.61 oz. each), divided
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
½ cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, divided
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup chocolate milk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
½ cup sour cream
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
⅔ cup powdered sugar
1 egg yolk
1 cup MOUNDS Sweetened Coconut Flakes
⅔ cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 tablespoon toasted sliced almonds*
1 tablespoon toasted coconut*

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350° F. Grease 12-cup fluted tube pan and dust with cocoa. Remove wrappers from 3 candy bars; chop and set aside.
  • Melt butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Add cocoa and salt, whisking until smooth. Remove from heat; stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Set aside to cool 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Stir together 2 cups flour, granulated sugar and baking soda. Slowly beat in melted butter mixture until moist crumbs form. Gradually add chocolate milk and eggs, beating well after each addition. Stir in sour cream; set aside.
  • Beat cream cheese in separate bowl until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar, egg yolk, remaining 2 tablespoons flour and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in coconut and chopped candy bars.
  • Pour about ¾ of chocolate batter (about 4 cups) into prepared pan. Spoon cream cheese mixture down the middle of batter being careful not to go to edges of pan. Pour the remaining chocolate batter over cream cheese mixture.
  • Bake 45 to 55 minutes or until wooden pick inserted into center of cake comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack about 20 minutes. Remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely.
  • Place chocolate chips in heat proof bowl. Heat whipping cream until hot, but not boiling; pour over chips. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes; whisk until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Cool 10 to 20 minutes or until mixture is cool and slightly thickened. Meanwhile, remove wrappers from remaining 2 candy bars and chop. Pour mixture over top of cake, allowing some to go down sides. Sprinkle top of cake with remaining chopped candy bars, almond slices and coconut. (If ganache is too warm it will not be thick enough to hold the toppings and they will slide off cake.)
  • Store cake, covered in refrigerator. For best flavor allow cake to come to room temperature before serving.

  • Prepare cake mix and bake according to package directions for a 9x13-inch cake. When cake is done, while it is still warm, poke holes all over the cake using a toothpick or a fork. Stir together sweetened condensed milk or cream of coconut and the shredded coconut and pour/spread over the warm cake. It will be thick. Allow to cool. Some of the mixture will sink down into the holes in the cake. When cake is cool, make the chocolate icing.
  • For the Chocolate Icing: Melt butter in a medium sauce pan over medium heat. Stir in the cocoa powder until no lumps remain. Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Stir together until smooth and creamy and immediately pour over the cooled cake. Spread out evenly. Top with sliced almonds and allow icing to harden. I like to refrigerate the cake overnight, so it's nice and firm and easier to cut into slices.

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease a tart pan with butter. (I love this pan with a removable bottom - it makes serving a breeze!) Place the greased pan on a large sheet pan. This makes it easier to move the tart pan in and out of the oven.
  • Melt the butter and set aside to cool. Combine the sugar and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until lightened in color and creamy, at least 3-4 minutes.
  • Slowly add the milk and almond extract while beating. Add the melted butter and continue beating to combine.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat ONLY long enough to combine thoroughly, take care not to overmix. Pour the batter into the greased tart pan. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (149°C). Line an 8 or 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper with enough overhang on the sides to easily remove the bars from the pan. Set aside.
  • Using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, mix the honey, vanilla, almond meal, salt, and almond butter together until combined. Fold in the almonds, chopped dates, and sunflower seeds until combined.
  • Transfer mixture to prepared baking pan and press very firmly into an even layer. You really want it packed in tight- as tight as possible. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely in the pan set on a wire rack for 1 hour, then transfer to the refrigerator to chill for 1 more hour. This helps firm up the bars which makes them stay compact. Remove bars from the pan using the overhang on the sides and cut into bars. Individually wrap each bar in plastic wrap or parchment. Store at room temperature for 1 week or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. I find they get a little sticky at room temperature over a few days, so I prefer the refrigerator.
