AIR FRYER TOSTONES FRIED PLANTAINS
Air Fryer Tostones! Today was a great day at our house for lunch. I surprised the kids and made these while they were finishing up school. Today, I bring you my favorite, Air Fryer Tostones Fried Plantains Recipe.

Steps:
- Start by peeling the Green Plantains. Slice the plantains into 1 1/2 inch thick slices.
- Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F, air fryer setting. Then soak your plantains in cold water and salt.
- Soak for about 20 minutes.
- Dry them off, coat them with olive oil, and then place them into your air fryer basket. Set the time for 10 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Carefully remove the plantains, and use a drinking glass, and smash them.
- Please return them to the air fryer basket, and spray them generously with cooking spray. Air Fyr for another 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Plate, serve, and enjoy!

AIR FRYER PLANTAIN CHIPS
Green plantains in the air fryer result in potato-like crunchy, crispy chips without being full of calories and fat. These can be sweet or savory, depending on which you are craving - use salt for savory or cinnamon-sugar for sweet chips.

- Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cut both ends of plantain and score along the side through the skin only. Peel skin off and cut plantain in half. Peel into strips using a vegetable peeler.
- Spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil. Place plantain strips in the basket, making sure they do not touch. Spray top of plantain strips with oil.
- Cook in the preheated air fryer for 7 to 9 minutes. Use tongs to turn each strip over, and continue frying until crispy, an additional 3 to 5 minutes. Immediately sprinkle with salt.

AIR FRYER TOSTONES
Tostones are made with green (unripe) plantains and are a very popular side dish in many Caribbean and South American countries. The traditional method is to twice-fry the plantains in oil, but this air-fried version of my Puerto Rican family's recipe is much lighter as it uses olive oil spray instead of deep-frying.

- Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Slice tips off the plantain. Make a vertical cut in the skin from end to end, making sure to cut only through the thick skin and not into the plantain flesh. Cut plantain, still with the peel, into 1-inch chunks. Peel the skin off each chunk starting at the slit you made.
- Place the plantain chunks in your air fryer basket and spray them with olive oil spray. Air fry for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare a bowl of salted water.
- Remove the plantain pieces from the air fryer with tongs. Smash to about 1/2-inch thickness using a tostonera (plantain smasher). Soak the smashed tostones in the bowl of salted water while smashing the rest.
- Remove the tostones from the salted water and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Return tostones to the air fryer in batches, filling the basket with a single layer each time. Spray the tops with olive oil spray and season with salt; air fry for 5 minutes. Flip with tongs and spray the other side with olive oil spray. Season with salt. Air fry until golden brown and crisp, 4 to 5 minutes more.

- Peel the Plantain - Slice the ends and then peel the plantain with a peeler or knife. Save the skin for making a delicious thoran side dish. making 2- 3 slits down the length will help in peeling them apart easily.
- Soak the peeled plantain - Mix the turmeric powder in a bowl of water and soak the peeled plantain for at least 30 minutes. Pat dry with a kitchen towel.
- Slice Thin - Slice thinly the Plantain with a mandolin slicer ( my preferred choice ) or knife.
- Toss with oil & seasoning - Toss the plantain chips slices with coconut oil & turmeric . Sprinkle with salt.
- Air fry - Arrange all the slices from the plantain into the air fryer basket overlapping each other. Select the AIRFRY programme. Adjust the +/- keys to adjust the Time and Temperature to 150 C / 350 F and 10 - 12 minutes. Press Start. Flip and turn the plantain chips around every 5 minutes, so that they evenly dry out. This initial de hydrating time depends on how much your plantain chips have wet and shiny spots. All the chips need to evenly dry out. Now Increase the temperature to 180C / 350F and cook for 2-3 minutes, checking every 1 minute in between. If you seen some of the chips are ready, remove them and continue to cook.
- Cool to Crisp - Allow the chips to cook a bit as they will crisp further.
- Season and serve - Sprinkle a little more salt if you prefer and serve.
