Your Thanksgiving table is not complete without this Cranberry Sauce made from scratch in just 20 minutes. Fresh or frozen cranberries, a hint of nutmeg, lots of orange juice and zest and a bit of vanilla complete this incredible cranberry sauce.

Number Of Ingredients 6

12 ounce cranberries ((1 bag), rinsed)
½ cup orange juice (store bought or freshly squeezed)
¾ cup sugar (granulated)
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg (ground)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon orange zest

Steps:

  • Assemble the sauce: Add all the ingredients to a smaller pot and stir to combine. Turn the heat to a medium-high and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Finish the sauce: Reduce the heat to a medium and continue cooking for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. You will notice the cranberries will burst as they cook.
  • Cool and serve: Let cool completely at room temperature before serving.

Steps:

  • Empty a 12-ounce bag of fresh or frozen cranberries into a saucepan and transfer 1/2 cup to a small bowl. Add 1 cup sugar, 1 strip orange or lemon zest and 2 tablespoons water to the pan and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries are soft, about 10 minutes. Increase the heat to medium and cook until the cranberries burst, about 12 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the reserved cranberries. Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste and cool to room temperature before serving.

  • In a medium saucepan, combine orange juice, orange zest, sugar and 3/4 cup water over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Stir in cranberries and bring to a boil; reduce heat and let simmer until sauce has thickened, about 15 minutes. Let cool completely before serving.

200 grams or one cup of sugar
enough water to cover two thirds of the cranberries

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients into a heavy pot on high to medium high heat
  • When the berries boil, turn the heat down to maintain a boil
  • Boil for 10 minutes
  • Pour into jars and cool to room temperature
  • Store covered in the fridge

1 cup water
1 cup Splenda granular
1 tablespoon Crystal Light orange drink mix
1 pinch ground cinnamon
1 (3 ounce) package sugar-free raspberry gelatin
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin (optional)

Steps:

  • Rinse cranberries, place in 2-quart pan with water.
  • Stir in Splenda Crystal Lite Orange powder, cinnamon, raspberry gelatin and unflavored gelatin if desired.
  • Bring to a boil (or use crock pot for long simmering) mashing some of the berries with back of spoon.
  • When thickened, pour into serving dish and refrigerate overnight.

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice and vanilla bean. Cook over medium heat until the berries pop, about 15 minutes. , Remove from the heat; remove bean halves. With a sharp knife, scrape the bean to remove the seeds; stir into sauce. Discard bean. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour or until chilled.
