ONE MINUTE CHOCOLATE ICING



One Minute Chocolate Icing image

This is a boiled fudge-like icing

1 cup white sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup milk
¼ cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, milk, butter and vanilla. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly, and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Using an electric mixer, beat icing for 3 minutes, or until mixture cools and thickens to spreading consistency. Spread onto completely cooled cake.

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1/4 cup butter, cubed
2/3 cup 2% milk
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Melt chocolate and butter in a metal bowl over barely simmering water. Stir until smooth., Place milk, sugar and vanilla in a blender; cover and process 1 minute to dissolve sugar. Add warm chocolate mixture; cover and process just until mixture thickens to desired consistency, about 30 seconds. Store in refrigerator.

1/2 cup shortening
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients except vanilla.
  • Stir over low heat until melted.
  • Bring to a full oil, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and continue to stir until warm.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Continue to beat until a smooth spreading consistency is achieved.
